ICICI Bank will cut down on timing of some branch operations to nine hours from 12 hours earlier in an effort to improve productivity. From December 1, many of its branches will be open from 9 am to 6 pm rather than from 8 am to 8 pm. ICICI Bank has observed the customer traffic in its branches for the last two years and realized that in some branches, it made sense to run from 9 am to 6 pm, some from 10 am to 6 pm and so on depending on customer traffic, location of the branch and the kind of branch like SMEs (small and medium enterprises), said K Ramkumar, head of the human resource department, ICICI Bank.

Several customers thronged the ICICI Bank branches and counters in Delhi on Saturday on rumours of liquidity problem but many returned without drawing money after the bank officials convinced them about its ’sound health’. PTI correspondents, who visited the ICICI Bank branches in Delhi, found over a dozen account holders queuing up in front of the ATM in the main branch, which ICICI officials claimed was normal. Several persons were also found returning after making enquiries from the officials.

The ICICI bank officials in all the ATM branches claimed that there was no liquidity crunch and adequate cash was available to meet the demands of the customers.
