Escorts cuts post of ED to size
Fortis Healthcare has scrapped the post of an all-powerful executive director and created seven divisions in Escorts Heart Institute, following Dr Nafesh Trehan’s departure. The ripples created by Dr Trehan’s exit, meanwhile, continue with an Apollo hospital spokesperson cliaming that 40 doctors and four medical staff from Escorts Heart Institute have joined the hospital on Monday. The hospital has revamped their existing facility to accomodate the new doctors, and some more doctors are expected to join in a day or two, he added. Says Fortis MD, Shivinder Singh: “About 40-50 people have put in their papers. Half of them are doctors. We are not looking for any immediate replacement. Most of the senior doctors in the hospital have stayed back and that is the vote of confidence to the management.”
Announcing the organisational changes, Mr. Singh said Dr T S Kler has been appointed as executive director for cardiac sciences and Dr Anil Karlekar will head the anaesthesia and critical care medicine, a post vacated by Dr Trehan’s dose associate Dr Yatin Mehta. Dr K S Iyer will head the paediatric cardiac surgery and Dr Meharwal, Dr Yugal Mishra and Dr Vijay Kohli will be directors for adult cardiac surgery. The other divisions are in non medical segment. Fortis plans to invest Rs 30 crore to upgrade Escorts hospital’s facilities and equipment over the next couple of years.

THE country's second largest software exporter Infosys is planning to launch its universal banking solution Finacle as a service offering along with its other products to expand its market reach.
"We have been evaluating the option of offering Finacle as a service. Currently, we are in the process of validating market demand and "formalising our strategy across geographies for such an offering," Finacle vice-president business head Merwin Fernandes told FIT.
